Your dental questions answered
How often should I have a routine dental check‑up?
We recommend a routine check‑up every six months for most adults. This allows us to monitor your oral health, clean hard‑to‑reach areas, and identify any early signs of decay or gum disease.
What happens during a dental check‑up?
Your dentist will assess your teeth, gums, and soft tissues; and review your oral hygiene routine. We may also take X‑rays to check for hidden issues.
Are dental X‑rays safe, and how often will I need them?
Modern digital X‑rays use very low radiation levels. Most patients only need X‑rays every 1–2 years, or as clinically indicated to monitor decay, root health, and bone levels.
What does your practice plan (membership scheme) include?
Our practice plan covers two hygiene appointments, two dental health examinations, and a set number of digital X‑rays per year. Members also receive discounts on most treatments.
How can I join the practice plan, and what are the costs?
You can join during any visit by completing our registration form. We’re certain you’ll love being on our plan, which is why we offer the ability to cancel at anytime. Plans start from £21.99 per month for adults.
Do I get discounts on treatments if I’m on the practice plan?
Yes, members benefit from 10% off many routine treatments, including fillings, crowns, and other necessary treatments.
What should I do in between check‑ups to maintain good oral health?
Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss or use a water flosser daily, and limit sugary snacks and drinks. If you have any concerns, contact us at any time.
How do I register as a new patient at your practice?
Simply call our reception or complete the online registration form on our website. We’ll book your first check‑up and welcome you to Aura Dentistry.
Am I a suitable candidate for Invisalign clear aligners?
Invisalign can correct a wide range of mild to moderate alignment issues. Your dentist will conduct a thorough assessment to determine suitability based on your bite and oral health.
How long does Invisalign treatment usually take?
Treatment typically ranges from 4 to 12 months, depending on the complexity of your case and how consistently you wear your aligners.
How much does Invisalign cost, and do you offer finance options?
Prices vary by case complexity but generally start around £4,000. We offer flexible finance plans to spread the cost over affordable monthly payments.
Will wearing aligners be painful?
You may experience mild pressure or discomfort when switching trays, but this typically subsides within a few days. Over‑the‑counter pain relief can help with any soreness.
How many hours per day must I wear my Invisalign trays?
For optimal results, wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except water), and cleaning.
How do I clean and care for my aligners?
Rinse your aligners daily, brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and water, and soak them in Invisalign cleaning crystals or a denture cleaner once a week.
How often will I need to come in for review appointments?
We typically schedule review visits every 6–12 weeks to monitor progress and provide your next sets of trays.
What do I need to do after Invisalign to maintain my results?
Once treatment is complete, you’ll need to wear retainers—usually nightly—to prevent teeth from shifting back. Maintain good oral hygiene and attend annual check‑ups.
Who may be in need of a dental implant?
Implants are ideal for patients missing one or more teeth who have good general health and sufficient jawbone density. Your dentist will assess bone quality and overall oral health.
Do I really need an implant when I am missing a tooth?
Replacing missing teeth helps preserve surrounding bone, maintain bite function, and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting. Implants offer a long‑term, natural‑looking solution.
Is a dental implant treatment painful?
Most patients report little to no pain during the procedure thanks to local anaesthetic. Post‑operative discomfort is usually mild and managed easily with pain relief.
How should I take care of my new implant after the treatment?
Maintain excellent oral hygiene by brushing twice daily and flossing around the implant. Regular hygiene visits and check‑ups will ensure the implant remains healthy.
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last 20 years or more. Regular dental visits and good home maintenance are key to their longevity.
Which costs can be expected?
Implant costs vary but typically range from £3,000 per tooth, depending on the complexity and any additional procedures like bone grafting.
Are there alternative treatment options besides dental implants?
Yes, alternatives include bridges and removable dentures. Your dentist will explain the pros and cons of each to help you make an informed choice.
What is composite bonding and how does it work?
Composite bonding uses tooth‑coloured resin to repair chips, close gaps, or reshape teeth. The resin is applied, sculpted, and cured with a special light for an immediate, natural finish.
Which smile imperfections can composite bonding correct?
Bonding can address minor chips, cracks, gaps between teeth, and small misalignments. It’s ideal for quick, conservative improvements.
Is the bonding procedure painful?
Most patients experience no pain. Bonding usually requires minimal or no enamel removal, so anaesthetic is rarely needed.
How long does a composite bonding treatment take?
Each tooth typically takes 30–60 minutes. You can often complete a small bonding case in a single visit.
How long will my bonded teeth last?
Composite bonding lasts 5–7 years on average before needing touch‑ups or replacement, depending on your oral habits.
Will composite bonding stain over time?
Bonding material can pick up stains from coffee, tea, or smoking. Avoid staining foods and drinks, and maintain good brushing habits.
Can composite bonding be repaired if it chips or cracks?
Yes, damaged bonding can usually be repaired easily during a short follow‑up appointment.
How do I care for my teeth after composite bonding?
Continue brushing twice daily, flossing, and attending regular hygiene visits. Avoid biting hard objects or using teeth as tools.
How does composite bonding compare to porcelain veneers?
Bonding is less invasive, quicker, and more affordable but may stain and wear faster. Veneers offer greater durability and stain resistance but require more enamel removal.
Is teeth whitening safe for my enamel?
Professional whitening uses calibrated peroxide concentrations that are safe when applied by our trained team. We protect your enamel and soft tissues throughout the process.
Will whitening cause tooth sensitivity?
Some patients experience mild, temporary sensitivity. This typically resolves within a few days and can be managed with desensitizing toothpaste.
How long does a whitening session take?
In‑office whitening appointments usually last 60–90 minutes, including preparation, application, and post‑treatment fluoride.
How long does it take to get your teeth whitened?
For a full in‑office treatment, expect one appointment. At‑home kits we provide are used daily for up to two weeks for gradual results.
How long will the whitening results last?
Results can last 6–12 months, depending on your diet and oral habits. Occasional top‑up treatments help maintain your shade.
Are there any foods or drinks I should avoid after whitening?
Avoid staining substances like red wine, coffee, tea, and dark berries for at least 48 hours post‑treatment to preserve your results.
Do you offer finance or practice‑plan discounts on whitening?
Yes, whitening treatments are eligible for our practice plan discounts and can be spread over monthly payments like other cosmetic services.

Great experience Annie Walker2025-04-17Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Outstanding service, very down to earth staff, accommodating and very helpful. My whole experience of my Invisalign journey was fantastic from the first appointment to the final follow up, cannot recommend aura dentistry enough. SJ2025-04-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was quite disappointed with my experience here, especially considering the amount of money I paid for my bonding and Invisalign. To start with something positive, I do think Dr. Ahad did a great job at the time, and I was really happy with the initial results. However, now that some time has passed, I’ve had a chance to reflect on my overall experience, and unfortunately, it wasn’t as great as I had initially thought. Regardless of my scheduled appointment time, every single visit ran 20–45 minutes late. I understand that delays can happen, but for this to be the case at every appointment is not normal. I was repeatedly told by multiple staff members that retainers were included in my treatment, even signing documents that confirmed this. However, when the time came, I was suddenly charged a significant amount and told that I had missed out on a “deal” that had ended. If this was the case, why did every staff member assure me otherwise? I also made it very clear, multiple times, that I needed my treatment completed by a specific date as I was traveling. Despite these reminders, when I called to book my final bonding appointment, I was told the only availability was after my one-way flight out of the country. This left me with no choice but to have the work done just three days I left. Within just a couple of months, my teeth have shifted, and they are no longer in a straight line. I have worn my retainer religiously and followed all recommended care instructions, including using the Oral-B iO toothbrush and Waterpik flosser (which are not cheap). Given how much I spent, I am fully committed to maintaining my teeth, yet when I raised my concerns, I was simply told to “make sure to wear my retainer” with no real solution offered. Additionally, I found the receptionist staff to be extremely blunt both over the phone and in person. This was particularly disappointing as I had stated on my initial form that I experience anxiety, but it didn’t seem like this was taken into consideration at all. I also had a friend who went here and felt the same way about the overall experience. Based on all of this, I wouldn’t recommend this clinic to friends or family. Despite the influencers they showcase, it feels like regular paying customers—who have saved up for their treatment—are not given the same level of care or priority. Laura McKay2025-04-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best decision I ever made going to aura dentistry for my Invisalign. Don’t remember life before it. Dr Ahad is a wizard! Such a lovely guy too. Would recommend to anyone! X Natalie McDonald2025-03-13Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an amazing experience at this beautiful dental practice! My hygiene appointment was fantastic, my teeth feel incredibly clean after a thorough scale and a diamond polish. I also saw Dr Ahad for a checkup, and he was absolutely brilliant. He was so thorough and explained everything in detail, which made me feel really informed about my dental health. The entire team was so friendly, professional, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. I can’t recommend this practice highly enough, if you're looking for top quality care with amazing staff, this is the place to go! L Mc2025-03-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came for a hygiene appointment and I’m not joking when I say it was the best scale and polish I have ever had in my life. Dentist was very informative and gentle. My teeth looked instantly whiter and I actually got so many compliments asking if I had got them whitened but they were just really clean and free of coffee stains lol. I’ll definitely be back for another and have actually recommended to people in work and friends. Eimear G2025-02-22Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I got Invisalign treatment here that finished around Oct 2023. I wish I had shopped around and would advise other people to do the same. I went in due to having gaps in the bottom of my teeth and after 8 months of treatment the dentist (A Aslam) had to put composite bonding into them as there were still gaps there. I personally think he had shaved too much away as there was a point where my bottom teeth were all touching. After spending several thousands, to still have the problem I went in with and now to have to keep up composite bonding on it isn't a satisfactory service. He said he prided himself on getting the perfect finish and maybe I should have pushed to ask for more trays when the treatment was done but this wasn't the perfect finish. I was told by the dentist that I had an unusual bite and that I'd have to remove a tooth if I wanted my teeth perfectly on top of each other. When I went to a different Invisalign certified dentist in a different clinic for a check up after he told me I should have been referred to a specialist due to my unusual bite but I wasn't as they wanted my money. I have had jaw pain on/off since which I know is a possible side effect but all I was told at the time was to hold my mouth when I yawn and to eat a soft food diet for two weeks. Not very helpful. The receptionist (Remi I think) at the time was very nice and helpful and the dentist was good at accomodating me to fit me in when I finished work late. I do regret not going somewhere else which would be my advice to anyone reading this.
